Preventing and treating prostatecancer with pomegaranates
Recent scientific research has suggested that pomegranates might be effective in the prevention and treatment of prostate cancer.
A study in human prostate cancer cells in lab dishes, at the University of Wisconsin found that improvements are dose dependent. Another study in the same facility injected mice with human prostate cancer cells. These mice developed malignant tumors. Some mice were fed with pure water, while the two groups of mice were given water mixed with different concentrations of pomegranate extract.
Mice with only water had tumors that grew much faster than pomegranate and water groups. The quantities given to mice were similar to what people get when they drank pomegranate juice on a daily basis. And while pomegranate juice not been studied in people with prostate cancer have been but the results are very good. (more…)
